Horace Orr Post 29 in Marietta, is the largest and most active American Legion Post in the state of Georgia. On 7 March 2024 at we presented $40,000 in donations to organizations supporting veterans and their families. Organizations receiving donations include:

The Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation, Inc. The Foundation’s primary mission is to provide financial relief assistance during times of unexpected emergencies and hardships to current members of the Georgia National Guard and employees of the Georgia Department of Defense.

Shepherd's Men. Comprised of active or retired servicemen and civilian volunteers, Shepherd’s Men enthusiastically raises awareness and funds for the SHARE Military Initiative (SHARE) at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. The Sheperd's Men also received a donation from our Auxiliary Squadron.

We also committed funds to our Post 29, Service Officer Fund. Service officers are specially trained to provide financial and expert assistance, free of charge, to veterans and their families.

The funds were raised during the 9th Annual Veteran’s 5K Race that was held Veteran’s Day 2023 in Marietta. Thank you to all of our generous and patriotic sponsors and all that attended and supported the Veteran's Day 5K Race. A delicious Bar-B-Q Dinner was provided at the event by our friends at Oak St. Health.
