It Takes A Village

You've heard the statement, it takes a village, at Post 29 we couldn't agree more. December 1st we gathered for our Legion Family dinner to show our support for our community first responders. The Marietta Police Department received funds to support their Shop With A Cop Program and the Marietta Fire Department received funds towards their foundation to purchase equipment and provide additional training.

In September of this year our community was dealt a horrible blow in two line of duty deaths of two Cobb County Deputies. Having worked closely with first responder community for many years, our Legion Family felt the heartbreak and wanted to help. Post leadership arranged for fundraisers and "pass the hats", and contributions from our Legion Family, the Georgia Vietnam Veterans Alliance and local Knights of Columbus. Commander Walt Cusick provided a donation to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office Foundation to support the families of fallen Deputies 38-year-old Marshall Ervin, Jr. and 42-year-old Jonathan Koleski. Our heartfelt prayers and support will continue for these heroes and their families. Special thanks to all who donated to be a light in this darkness.
